The Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. invites you to apply for a unique and ground-breaking opportunity to advance the health care of First Nation peoples in northern Manitoba. The successful candidate will employ their skills in communications as part of an innovative team tasked with addressing widely known and community identified gaps in health and wellness services.
Transformation of health care systems to meet the health and healing needs of First Nation communities will set the standard of care in the domains of equity and equality. As well, this work will focus on upstream preventative measures to support the health and wellbeing of our First Nations citizens with a focus on women, children and families.
The role requires a degree or diploma in communications or public relations and at least three (3) years of experience in a communications role, preferably within an Indigenous organization (a combination of relevant experience and education will be considered). Must have Advanced computer skills with internet, e-mail and MS applications is required, with additional design and layout skills considered an asset (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite).
The successful candidate will possess strong communications skills with an ability to synthesize and summarize, verbally and in writing. Through various communications platforms, the successful candidate will know how to represent the issues of northern and remote and isolated First Nations communities. The successful candidate will have the ability to meet deadlines, have excellent planning and organization skills, demonstrated ability to manage confidentiality, excellent critical thinking skills, excellent networking and relationship building skills and the ability to problem solve. The ideal candidate will have experience utilizing social media to deliver messaging with some experience in lay-out and design.
