Fall Feast 2018

On Thursday October 4, 2018, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc.(MKO) held a Fall Feast and Community Gathering in conjunction with the National Day of Remembrance for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). The event was held at the Bill Comaskey Wellness Centre (TRCC Gym) in Thompson Manitoba.

Grand Chief Garrison Settee welcomed the guests and offered to support the City of Thompson as MKO is a big part of the Thomspon family, “This is the best way to connect with the surrounding communities, because some of them are just within a short driving distance, MKO needed to be relevant to their people and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to make this my home office.”

The event also commemorated the National day of Remembrance of MMIWG and had speakers from the community who were affected.

The Fall Feast had over 250 community members join MKO for food, speaking engagements and traditional entertainment.
