Communications Officer
Winnipeg – Full Time


Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. (KIM) invites you to apply for a unique and ground-breaking opportunity to advance the health and wellness of First Nations people in Manitoba. KIM is a newly established health services organization guided by First Nations leadership; grounded in the values of First Nations people and managed by a high functioning and dedicated team of health and administrative professionals.

The communications officer will employ excellent communication skills and experience as part of a communications unit tasked with clinical care transformation of mental wellness and traditional healing services to First Nations. The communications officer will work as part of a team to develop and implement relevant communications strategies consistent with the goals of KIM.

A critical and creative thinker, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience in communications as well as a degree, diploma or certificate in communications, public relations or a related discipline.

The successful candidate will apply their writing, creative and verbal communication skills through various communication mediums (social media, TV, radio, website, newsletters, special events/ meetings, print and other marketing materials). The ideal candidate will be highly organized with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines for multiple and often overlapping projects. The successful candidate will have the ability to problem solve in a collaborative environment while working within tight budgets and timelines. Networking and relationship building skills are key to this role; alongside the ability to carry oneself with professionalism, compassion and humility.

The communications officer will have proven experience developing and implementing social media strategies including content, engagement and analytical metrics on various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Design and layout skills are required with intermediate to advanced skills using Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and Photoshop; experience in Canva will be considered an asset.

Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous candidates who have experience working with or for Indigenous organizations in a communications capacity.
