The Custodian is responsible for keeping the building and property in a clean and orderly condition. They will be responsible for general janitorial practices and routine cleaning maintenance services. The work is to be performed daily, commencing at 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Ensures the general upkeep of the facility such as cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, dusting, vacuuming, spot washing accessible walls, collects and disposes of garbage.
• Vacuum front entrances.
• Sweeps, mops and scrubs floors.
• Sweep and mop kitchen.
• Gathers and empties all trash and recycling containers.
• Scrubs, sanitizes and supplies restroom facilities.
• Cleans windows, mirrors and partitions with soap and other cleaners.
• Checks, cleans, moves, arranges and dusts furniture as required.
• Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Restocks washroom supplies.
• Checks doors and windows to ensure building security.
• Reports safety concerns.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven experience as custodian, janitor or similar role.
• Must have a proven record of working effectively with First Nations organizations.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures, ability to stand, walk and bend for many hours, ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time and experience with using cleaning equipment.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Satisfactory criminal record, child abuse and vulnerable sector checks are required
