Last year, the Government of Canada announced investments to expand the use of sport and physical activity programming as a means to improve social development in Indigenous communities. Canadian Heritage (Sport Canada) is pleased to launch the second cycle of the Sport for Social Development in Indigenous Communities (SSDIC) program component, which seeks project proposals with activities that will take place between April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2023. The SSDIC will again be delivered via two streams.

Stream 1
For Stream 1, $5.3 million will be made available annually to the 13 Provincial/Territorial Aboriginal Sport Bodies (PTASBs), for their capacity building to support sport for social development projects in Indigenous communities in each of the provinces and territories, as well as the Aboriginal Sport Circle for its role in providing leadership and coordination of PTASB activities.

Deadline to apply: November 20, 2020

Stream 2
For Stream 2, $3.6 million will be made available annually to Indigenous governments, communities and organizations, including delivery organizations working in collaboration with Indigenous communities for projects that promote sport and physical activity to address self-defined social development objectives in Indigenous communities.

Deadline to apply: October 16, 2020
