On behalf of Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) Inc. and our Northern First Nations, I wish you a safe and prosperous holiday season filled with good health, happiness, and optimism.
This year has been challenging for everyone as we live through the COVID-19 pandemic. With vaccines soon becoming available, we know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I encourage you to keep your circle small during this holiday. Do everything you can to protect your loved ones. Listen to the advice of your leadership during this difficult time.
Since we cannot be together this Christmas, I encourage you to reach out to those you love by phone, video calls, or by dropping something off to their doorstep to let them know you are thinking about them. Make sure to check in with the children and youth in your lives as well as the Elders.
Stay strong. We are a resilient and strong people. We will get through this.
I wish you a world of peace and happiness. May the holiday season and the new year bring joy to you and your loved ones.
Ekosani, miigwetch, masi cho, and thank you.
