“We believe in your dream, we believe in your vision, and we believe in your goal… you are truly a warrior and I am very proud of you.”
~MKO Grand Chief Garrison Settee had the honour of meeting with Warrior William Hart, who is competing in the Special Olympics in the Alpine Skiing event in Kazan, Russia.
On behalf of MKO, Grand Chief Settee has presented Warrior William Hart with a $1000 donation and has pledged to continue to support through fundraising to enable William’s mother and William’s twin sister Jemiha to go with him for family support while he is in Russia competing for a medal.
Warrior William Hart, despite challenges that he has had in his life, is striving to achieve recognition that “obstacles are just there to make you better.”
Warrior William is originally from The Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation but lives in Thompson. He is an amazing young man who has always been an avid lover of sports.
William has been part of Special Olympics for 10 years; he started off with swimming, then went to figure skating, and has now been doing Alpine skiing for five or six years with his coach Scott Luxton.
