Updated June 11, 2021: Read about the late Clyde Flett in the Winnipeg Free Press story called: “Faces of the pandemic: A look at the lives of 10 Manitobans lost to COVID-19 over the past 12 months and what they meant to family and friends” by Kevin Rollason.

“June 11, 2021, marks six months since the passing of our beloved MKO colleague Clyde Flett. Today and every day we remember you and we miss you. We feel a deep sense of loss knowing that you left this world too soon as we continue to battle through the COVID-19 pandemic. We lament this virus for taking you, and other community members, from us. We miss your sense of humour and your passion for advocating on behalf of Northern First Nations. Our thoughts are with your children, grandchildren, partner, parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and your entire community of St. Theresa Point. Your memory lives on.”

Message from December 11, 2021:

“On behalf of everyone at Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak, I want to extend my sincere and deepest condolences to

the family and loved ones of Clyde Flett. We are beyond saddened to share that Clyde has begun his journey onto the spirit world. As my assistant, Clyde was an integral part of the MKO family and things will not be the same without him. Please keep Clyde’s family, loved ones, and community of St. Theresa Point in your thoughts and prayers tonight.

MKO has lost a warrior and an advocate for Indigenous and Treaty Rights. Clyde was not only my assistant. He was my friend and my brother who was passionate and fully committed to working for the Chiefs. Clyde was a man who was loyal; committed and gave all he had for the benefit of our MKO citizens. MKO loses a bright and shining star.

Rest now my warrior friend: I will never forget who you were and the journey we shared together. RIP mighty warrior. Rest in power!”
