Re: Investing in improvements to Provincial Road 384

Dear Minister Schuler,

I am writing to revisit the topic of investment into Provincial Road (PR) 384, which connects The Pas to Moose Lake and Mosakahiken Cree Nation. On May 7, 2020, the Premier amiounced a $500 million investment in shovel-worthy infrastructure projects to restart the Manitoba economy. On behalf of Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO), I recommend that the Province of Manitoba look at investing into road and highway paving on PR 384.

In your letter to MKO dated November 28, 2018, you had identified that the Manitoba government was committed to working with Mosakahiken Cree Nation on this file. To date, there has not been much progress on addressing the concerns to conduct resurfacing and repairs on PR 384.

MKO is committed to working with your department and the federal government to access funding from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Fund. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss a plan to access federal funding to match the contributions by your government to conduct paving, resurfacing, and repairs on PR 384.

Please contact my assistant Clyde Flett by email at [email protected] to arrange a conference call.

Sincerely,

Grand Chief Garrison Settee

Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc.
