Subject: Extension for filing COVID-19 related expenses with the FNIHB
The First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) at Indigenous Services Canada had requested that First Nations submit COVID-related expenses by July 31, 2020, for costs incurred to date or costs anticipated to be incurred by September 2020.
On July 29, 2020, MKO with the other members of the First Nations COVID-19 Pandemic Response Coordination Team sent a joint letter to FNIHB requesting an extension to the deadline to file expenses. Officials from the FNIHB have agreed to extend the deadline to file expenses to August 21, 2020. When you are ready to submit your expenses, email them to [email protected].
If your community has incurred expenses specific to pandemic preparations for COVID-19, please ensure to share these expenses with FNIHB by the new deadline. FNIHB will review and assess the expenses. They will work to flow eligible expenses back to communities in Fall 2020.
FNIHB remains available to help communities. They encourage you to review updated guidelines as new items, such as perimeter security specific to public health, are now eligible for funding as of April 1, 2020. You can find the guidelines online here.
If your community requires assistance with submitting your expenses, please contact the FNIHB COVID Duty Officer email at [email protected].
