The Honourable Ron Schuler
Minister of Infrastructure
Province of Manitoba
Room 203 Legislative Building

Dear Minister Schuler,

As the Grand Chief of the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) and the representative of 26 Northern First Nations, I write to you today with sadness as I reflect upon the recent passing of Ms. Danielle Adams, the Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Thompson region.

Many residents living in Northern Manitoba are concerned when it comes to road safety. The loss of a young and bright MLA due to an accident on Highway 6 is tragic and potentially preventable. While we do not know what caused the accident that claimed the life of this young leader, we do know we need better highway conditions for all those who use the highway to travel south via ground transportation.

As we enter the winter season, I implore you to ensure the province prioritizes the maintenance of highways in Northern Manitoba, including Highway 6. There needs to be continued and diligent emphasis placed on clearing and sanding the highways throughout the winter season.

If you would like to discuss these matters further, I invite you to schedule a meeting with me by contacting my Executive Assistant, Dorothy Smith at [email protected] or at (204) 918-8101.

Sincerely,

Grand Chief Garrison Settee
Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc.
