The Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. is issuing a statement on behalf of the family of the late Noreen Tait of South Indian Lake, MB.

It is with deep sadness and profound grief we share the passing of our loved one, Noreen Ruth Tait, who was tragically taken from us.

Noreen made her journey into the spirit world on February 21, 2023, at 5:05 pm. She was surrounded by family.

Noreen was a loving, free spirit, with a beautiful smile, who loved to laugh and spend time with her friends and family. She was a loving mother, Nana, granddaughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, partner, and friend to many. She was sacred, she was loved, and she will be missed by all those who knew her.

She loved her two daughters and grandchildren with her whole being. Her grandchildren were extra special to her. Noreen had a loving relationship with her family and community.

Noreen had the right to live and the right to feel safe in her community of South Indian Lake. Noreen’s voice will not be silenced, our family will carry her voice forward.

As we navigate our grief, we thank the community and everyone for their love and support during this very difficult time. We ask the media and the community to respect our privacy while we are grieving.

It is the families wish at this time to have their privacy respected and decline all media requests at this time. Any inquiries can be made to Heidi Spence in lieu of family at: [email protected].
