The Community Indigenous Policing Services are now recruiting for their 2021-2022  Commanding Officer’s Youth Committee (COYC).

The RCMP “D” Division are encouraging youth ages 13-21 from rural Manitoba to apply to join the COYC. Consideration is also being given to separating the COYC into two groups (13-17 and 18-21) to better capture the perspectives of the different age groups.

The goal of the COYC is to involve youth in discussions about youth crime and victimization issues to help shape RCMP youth strategies and initiatives. The COYC takes place online, which in the current climate makes this a great opportunity for youth to connect with others and hear perspectives from across Manitoba.

The Committee will run from November 2021 to June 2022. Participants will spend approximately one to two hours a month discussing youth issues through a moderated online forum. For their participation, they will be eligible to receive reference letters for:

  • scholarships;
  • employment opportunities;
  • university /college applications;
  • volunteer hours for their participation (with the approval of their school).
