What is Post Majority Support Services?

Post Majority Support Services assist youth and young adult formerly in care who have reached the age of majority between the ages of 18 to 26 living in Canada. They can access products, services and supports they need, when they need them.

Needs of the youth and young adults must be met through substantive equality by providing extra support when needed so that First Nations youth and young adults have an equal chance to thrive as other young and young adults in Canada.

This will aid in supporting their distinctive needs and self-identified goals as they transition into adulthood. Self determination, culture and language, holistic approaches, structural interventions and non-discrimination are the key values to be respected to achieve substantive equality in the provision of services, products and support under Post Majority Support Services.

How do we help?

MKO Post Majority Support Services case managers assist youth and young adults who have been in care and reached the age of majority under the age of 26 to access programs, services and supports that meet their distinct needs by:

• Assisting with the intake process and providing direct access to funding for services and supports

• Providing navigation of appropriate programs, services, and agencies to fit client uniqueness.

• Collaborating with service providers to support the delivery of wrap around services that promote holistic positive outcomes for youth and young adults.

Assistance with housing, food security, employment search, mental health, addictions, and cultural support

To provide, on a voluntary basis, holistic, culturally safe, and personalized support to ensure a successful transition to adulthood
