Project Manager
Minoayawin Keewatinowi Askik Project
Winnipeg or Thompson Office – April 2022 to March 31, 2024
Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. (MKO) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the full-time, one-year term position of project manager for a project called “Minoayawin Keewatinowi Askik: Engaging Northern First Nations in Manitoba to increase uptake of COVID-19 vaccines.”
The project manager will be based out of our Thompson or Winnipeg office and will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to provide MKO First Nations with support to decrease vaccine hesitancy and increase vaccine uptake.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create, execute, and manage project based on project objectives and deliverables
- Develop project workplan and timelines based on project objectives and deliverables
- Develop and conduct community-based surveys
- Oversee the development of an environmental scan
- Manage schedule, milestones, deliverables, and action items for project
- Oversees and manages communication, planning, development, and reporting related to project
- Gather evidence-based information and research, create database
- Coordinate the research and development of campaign material
- Develop a strategy to maintain regular communication with MKO First Nations
- Work closely with health care professionals and other stakeholders to receive direction for project and share information
- Travel to First Nations in Northern Manitoba, must be willing to travel via road, plane, boat
- Oversee the development of a community-based toolkit and training
- Coordinate and facilitate community engagement sessions, including “train the trainer” sessions
- Oversee the evaluation of the project and knowledge sharing to First Nations and others
- Provide regular updates to project sponsor and MKO colleagues
- Organize Facebook Live sessions to share project-related information with MKO citizens
- Manage the overall budget for the project
- Supervise project assistant
- Other duties as assigned
Experience and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree
- At least five years of experience in managing projects and/or programs
- Knowledge of the unique issues related to Northern First Nations in Manitoba
- Strong understanding of project management
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Public speaking/presentation skills
- Strong management skills with ability to produce deliverables and work within a budget
- Proficient computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Knowledge of and experience working with First Nations and stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Proof of double COVID-19 vaccination
Other Duties and Skills:
- Understanding of or ability to speak the Cree or Dene language
- Experience working with Elders, leaders, and/or health directors
- Knowledge of graphic design, web design, video production, photography, and/or using Zoom as a meeting platform
- Passion for and knowledge about vaccine uptake and health promotion in First Nations
